MEADOW
Meadow is three dances presented next to each other. They all present choreography as a practice of rhythm and transformation. Transformation that takes an impulse from the relationship to our fathers.
In the first dance two movers dressed in full armor make their way up and down a structure built on stage. They become liquid in the metallic frame. They challenge what can be done and sensed in an armor.
Second introduces a community of elderly men. Their collaborative body rumbling and swaying. They tap, stroke and sing, forming one, big, sound-filled body. They are choreography, a community, a composition, a choir and a herd.
In the third dance a soloist creates an accumulative environment with their movement morphing from abstract movement to bird, to an antique soldier. Making us realise the fluidity and changing rhythm of our being.
Meadow premiered 2.12.2021 at Zodiak Centre for New Dance, Helsinki, Finland.
